Rewind to June 2018, I saw a photo of myself.. and thought “You look disgusting, how did you let this happen?” That was my rock bottom. 

In the past, I had tried running, walking, eating right, nothing stuck. Every day, I drove by a sign “Phase II Fitness” and thought maybe I could do that? So, I emailed Coach Lloyd, asking about classes, and told him I was very much out of shape.. he assured me that it was a “beginners class” and I could work at my own pace, so I decided to give it a whirl.

July 3, 2018 7:30 am, I walked in the garage door at Phase II Fitness, I was extremely nervous, What if I can’t do it? What if my fat jiggles? What if people judge me??? I was greeted by Coach Lloyd immediately, he introduced me to the other people in the class, and we began our warm up.

​I realized, I COULD do it, my fat DID jiggle and not one person judged me. It was hard, But everyone welcomed me with open arms, and encouraged me the entire time! ​​

Fast forward 15 months... I am still a work in progress, but I am down 30 lbs, and SO happy. Never in a million years did I think I would ever say “I love going to the gym, and I love working out” but I do!! It’s because of Coach Lloyd, and the wonderful people that work out at Phase II, that I was able to do this. His positive motivation, and encouragement, pushed me to keep working hard. I have met amazing people, and made great friends in the process.

​I can not talk about my success without thanking my husband, he encourages me daily and has adjusted his schedule so that I can keep my gym schedule.

I am 55 years old and started training with coach Rice at Phase 2 Fitness 5 years ago at the age of 50.  Honestly, it was one of the best decisions I could have made!!  I both played and officiated hockey for many years and always thought that I was “in shape.”  Not until I started at Phase 2 did I realize I wasn’t.

Now at 55, I train 5-6 days a week with coach Rice and compete in CrossFit as a “masters athlete” and am in the best shape of my life.

Coming to Phase 2 was one of the best decisions I ever made.

During my time at Phase 2 Fitness I have learned, grown, and improved a tremendous amount in both boxing and cardio. In October of 2016 I took private boxing lessons and enjoyed it a massive amount to the point where I wanted to return instantly after the first lesson. Starting from the basics of just learning how to correctly throw a left jab I was still immediately hooked. Lloyd has helped me an unbelievable amount in the sport of boxing and I plan to continue showing up and grinding hard to achieve new goals. I’d recommend Phase 2 fitness to anyone, new or experienced, looking to improve mental and physical attributes.

My experience with Phase 2 Fitness has been a great one. I originally came to work on getting stronger for hockey. Not only did I get stronger and faster from my time here but I also learned to have more confidence in myself. Coach Lloyd had always been very nice and was always there to push me to my absolute limit. Since my start two years ago I’ve added weight to my 1 repetition maxes that I probably wouldnt have been able to accomplish without his guidance and constant pushing.

As a division 1 athlete, I need an environment where I can be challenged and pushed while also feeling like I am getting better for my sport. Lloyd tailors my workouts so that I am prepared for my conditioning tests, workouts, and rigorous practice and game schedule. In one summer of working with him, I made considerable improvements in my run test time, performance on the field, and overall physical fitness.

Walking into Phase 2 Fitness was one of the best decisions I have made when I moved here.  Being in the Military and needed to keep up with physical fitness standards, Lloyd has helped with that greatly. The moment I first walked in, not knowing anything about Power and Olympic lifting Lloyd’s beginner class was the best to start with. He really stresses proper technique, so no one gets hurt. Moving beyond the beginner’s and now using Lloyd’s personal fitness plans, there is never a dull moment. He is constantly changing things up, keeping the workouts fun, entertaining, and more importantly helping me keep with my military readiness.
